One DJ From Planning to Dancefloor

Your wedding DJ should already understand your plans before arriving at the venue. That's why I personally handle every wedding I book, from our first conversation and music planning through to the final song on the night.

Rhythm and Beats is deliberately a boutique, solo-operated DJ service. I don't take your booking and then assign your wedding to another DJ. The person you meet, discuss your music with and work through your timeline with is the same person behind the decks on your wedding day.

Over the years I've DJed weddings across Melbourne in everything from intimate venues and wineries to large ballroom celebrations. My approach combines the music you love with guest requests and what I'm seeing on the dancefloor, allowing the night to develop naturally rather than following a rigid playlist.

I can also work with your venue and other suppliers around key moments in the reception, helping the music fit smoothly around entrances, speeches, formalities, your first dance and the transition to the dancefloor.

Just wow. In my exhausted state after the Wedding I'm finding it hard to put into words how much Kev made our night and being only limited to 5 stars is a shame as Kev deserves so much more. FAQs about hiring me as your Wedding DJ

How far in advance should we book our Wedding DJ? Popular wedding dates, particularly Saturdays during Melbourne's peak wedding seasons, can book well in advance. Once you have your date and venue confirmed, it's worth checking availability early. If your wedding is coming up sooner, you're still welcome to enquire — if I'm available, I'll let you know.

Can we choose our wedding music? Absolutely. Your music preferences are central to the planning process. You can share favourite songs and artists, nominate must-plays and let me know anything you'd prefer not to hear. I'll use that as the foundation while retaining the flexibility to read the room and adapt throughout the reception.

Do you take song requests from guests? Yes. Guests can make requests during the reception, and I also offer a QR-based request system. I balance those requests with your own preferences and what's working on the dancefloor, so a request won't automatically be played if it doesn't suit your plans or the moment.

Can you act as MC during the wedding? Yes. MC duties can be incorporated where required. We can discuss the level of MC support you need during planning, from key introductions and announcements through to broader reception coordination.

Can you provide music for the ceremony and reception? Yes. My Premium All Day option can cover ceremony and reception music. We'll plan the important ceremony tracks and key reception moments beforehand so the music flows consistently across the day.

Can you accommodate cultural or special music requests? Yes. Cultural music can be incorporated alongside the broader wedding soundtrack. During planning we'll discuss the genres, artists, traditions and specific songs that are important to you and your families, and how you'd like them incorporated throughout the celebration.

Will you personally DJ our wedding? Yes. When you book Rhythm and Beats, you're booking me. I personally handle the planning and DJ every wedding I confirm rather than passing the booking to another DJ. The person you work with before the wedding is the same person behind the decks on the day.
