When you enquire, plan your music and discuss your celebration, you're dealing directly with the same person who will be behind the decks on the night — me.
I don't take bookings and then assign them to other DJs. That means I arrive already knowing your plans, your music preferences and the kind of party you want to create.
My experience spans milestone birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, themed events and private celebrations across Melbourne. Whether it's an intimate gathering or a packed venue, I combine your music preferences with guest requests and what I'm seeing on the dancefloor to shape the night as it happens.

Every party has a different mix of people and musical tastes. My open-format approach lets me move naturally between decades and genres as the night develops rather than locking your celebration into one style of music.
Depending on your crowd, that could mean R&B and Hip-Hop, funk and disco, 80s and 90s classics, 2000s favourites, pop, house, EDM, Latin and current party tracks — sometimes all in the same night.
R&B and Hip-Hop are particular strengths of mine, alongside extensive experience mixing Latin music and broader multi-genre party sets.

FAQs about hiring a DJ for your Melbourne party
What types of parties do you DJ? I DJ all kinds of celebrations across Melbourne, including 18th and 21st birthdays, milestone birthdays such as 30ths, 40ths and 50ths, engagement parties, anniversaries, private parties and themed events. Every celebration is different, so I tailor the music and approach around your event, your guests and the atmosphere you want to create.
Can we choose the music? Absolutely. Your music preferences are a big part of the planning process. You can share your favourite songs, artists and genres, nominate must-plays and let me know anything you'd prefer not to hear. I'll use those preferences as the foundation while still having the flexibility to read the room and adapt the music throughout the night.
Do you take guest song requests? Yes. Guests can make requests on the night, and I also offer a QR-based request system that can be used before the event. I balance guest requests with your own music preferences and what is working on the dancefloor, so a request won't automatically be played if it doesn't suit the moment or your plans.
Can you DJ for different age groups? Definitely. This is where my open-format approach is particularly useful. I can move between different decades and genres to suit a mixed crowd, from disco, funk, 80s and 90s classics through to R&B, Hip-Hop, 2000s favourites, pop, house, Latin and current music. The aim is to bring different generations together without the music feeling disjointed.
Can you accommodate themed or cultural parties? Yes. I can tailor the music to suit themed celebrations and incorporate cultural music alongside the broader party soundtrack. We'll discuss this during the planning process so I understand which genres, artists and traditions are important to you and how you'd like them incorporated into the night.
Do you provide sound and lighting? Yes. I provide professional sound equipment, an elegant DJ booth setup and tasteful dancefloor lighting suited to your venue and celebration. I arrive early to complete the setup and soundcheck before your guests need the space, so everything is ready to go when your party begins.
Will you personally DJ my party? Yes. When you book Rhythm and Beats, you're booking me. I personally handle the planning and DJ every event I confirm rather than passing bookings on to other DJs. That means the person you discuss your music, timeline and ideas with before the party is the same person behind the decks on the night.
