The Setting

Luminaire is one of Melbourne's most impressive wedding venues, and Nina and Jim's celebration made the most of everything it has to offer. With its contemporary design, luxurious décor and breathtaking views across the Melbourne skyline, it created an unforgettable setting for a wedding with more than 200 guests.

Large weddings can often feel overwhelming, but Luminaire strikes a wonderful balance between elegance and atmosphere. The spacious reception room gave everyone plenty of room to celebrate while creating an incredible dancefloor that became the centrepiece of the evening once the formalities were complete.

Bringing the Vision to Life

Nina and Jim wanted their wedding to feel like one big celebration where family, culture and great music came together naturally. From the moment the dancefloor opened, the energy in the room was incredible. The evening unfolded through a carefully balanced mix of cultural favourites, old school R&B, commercial party tracks and dancefloor classics, ensuring every generation had their chance to celebrate.

One of my favourite aspects of this wedding was watching the music bring different groups together. One moment the dancefloor was filled with cultural songs celebrating family traditions, and the next it was packed with guests singing along to classic R&B and party favourites. Those smooth transitions between musical styles helped maintain the momentum throughout the evening while keeping the celebration authentic to Nina and Jim's vision.

From Behind the DJ Decks

There's something special about performing for a crowd of more than 200 guests. Large weddings bring incredible energy, but they also require careful planning and constant crowd reading to keep everyone engaged.

What stood out most about Nina and Jim's celebration was the trust they placed in me to guide the music throughout the evening. Seeing grandparents, family members and friends all sharing the same dancefloor is exactly what makes multicultural weddings so memorable.
