The Setting

The Craft & Co in Collingwood was the perfect venue for Nigara and Dennis' wedding celebration. With its industrial character, warm atmosphere and flexible reception space, it created the ideal setting for a wedding that felt relaxed, modern and ready to become an unforgettable party.
One of the things I enjoy most about weddings at venues like The Craft & Co is how naturally they transition from an elegant dinner reception into a vibrant dancefloor. Once the formalities finished, the room quickly transformed into exactly the kind of celebration Nigara and Dennis had envisioned.
Bringing the Vision to Life
From our planning conversations, it was clear that Nigara and Dennis wanted a wedding that reflected both their personalities and the diverse musical tastes of their family and friends. Rather than limiting the night to one particular genre, they wanted a celebration that felt energetic, spontaneous and full of surprises.
They gave me the freedom to read the room and let the music evolve naturally throughout the evening. That trust allowed me to move confidently between Latin rhythms, old school R&B, commercial favourites and high-energy EDM, creating a celebration where every guest could find their moment on the dancefloor.
How the Night Unfolded
Once the formalities wrapped up, the celebration shifted into party mode almost immediately. The dancefloor quickly filled as I began building the energy with familiar favourites before taking guests on a musical journey through multiple genres.
Latin music brought incredible energy to the room before seamlessly transitioning into old school R&B, commercial party favourites and high-energy EDM later in the evening. Rather than staying in one musical lane, I constantly adapted the playlist to match the crowd's response, keeping every transition fresh while maintaining momentum throughout the night.
The result was a dancefloor that never stood still, with guests singing, dancing and embracing every twist in the musical journey.
From Behind the DJ Decks
One of the things I enjoyed most about this wedding was the creative freedom Nigara and Dennis gave me. Having couples trust me to read the room and respond to the energy in front of me is always rewarding because it allows every celebration to develop its own unique personality.
Throughout the night I watched how guests responded to each genre, knowing exactly when to keep the Latin rhythms flowing, when to lean into nostalgic R&B classics and when the time was right to lift the energy with commercial dance music and EDM. Those transitions weren't planned song by song—they happened organically by reading the crowd and responding to what was happening on the dancefloor.
Watching family and friends embrace every style of music together was one of those reminders that the best weddings aren't defined by a single playlist. They're created by understanding the people in the room and giving every guest a reason to get involved.
Planning Your Own Celebration?
If you're planning your wedding, don't feel like your reception needs to stay within a single musical style. Some of the most memorable celebrations are those that blend different genres together, creating a soundtrack that reflects both the couple and the people they've invited to celebrate with them.
Sharing your favourite artists, must-play songs and the overall atmosphere you're hoping to create gives me the flexibility to build a personalised musical journey rather than simply following a fixed playlist. By reading the room throughout the evening, I can keep the dancefloor fresh, maintain the energy and create those unforgettable moments that guests remember long after the wedding has finished.
